This advanced-level class is primarily focussed on forward bends. Namely, we will be looking in more detail at the actions involved in achieving evenness in our forward bends.
Guruji once said that it is easier for us to observe that which is more tangible. Seen as the mind is more elusive, it makes sense to start with the body; by understanding the body, we begin to understand the mind. And, since everything is interconnected, by achieving evenness in our physical actions, we can start to bring peace and quiet to the mind.
The class will be broken down into two parts. In the first half, we will be going through several asymmetric standing poses, using wall support from time to time to facilitate observation. Then, we will move on to practising our seated forward bends, paying special attention to any tightness or tension that might arise and trying to see which side of the body harbours most of said tension in a bid to release more evenly as we fold forward.
