Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana 2

What is Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana 2

An advanced backbend, this is the second stage of Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana Variation 1. While providing a similar body opening as the first variation, here the front leg is in a deep lunge which requires greater balance in the pose, and hence even more attention to alignment and release.

When and how to do Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana 2

As with the first variation of this pose, the back rib cage and dorsal spine work deeply into the body. This variation brings deeper work into the hip flexor and groin. Without the grounding of the buttocks as in the first stage of the pose, the spinal muscles engage to maintain the lift and balance.

Working these areas brings new blood supply and space, bringing health and vitality to the lower abdominal regions, the spine, chest, and legs.
