In this intense session, advanced students and those in teacher training will be focussing mostly on backbends. We will also be taking a deeper look into some poses, including Adho Mukha Vrksasana (Handstand), Sirsasana (Headstand), Dhanurasana (Bow Pose), Ustrasana (Camel Pose), and Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel Pose).
Throughout this sequence, it will be important to keep our focus on our feet, for, regardless of the type of pose we do, they always act as one of the main pillars supporting us in it. Guruji used to compare the big toe base, little toe base, inner and outer heels to the “four tyres of a car” — without grounding evenly through all four corners of the foot, we would be unsteady, like a car with a missing or flat tire.
