About the course

This collection was designed to guide students through the essential principles of Iyengar Yoga. This series emphasizes gradual progression, ensuring that students develop a solid foundation in both physical postures and mental awareness. Each class in the series focuses on specific aspects of yoga practice, allowing students to deepen their understanding and improve their abilities in a structured, supportive environment.

The collection begins with a gentle introduction to backbends, where students will explore the fundamental actions required for these poses, building strength and flexibility over time. A restorative class is incorporated to quieten the mind and cultivate inner stillness, which is essential for a balanced practice. There is also a class on pose sequencing, an important aspect of one’s yoga practice.

As students progress, they will be introduced to ways of approaching inversions, allowing them to tackle these challenging postures with confidence and safety. A class focusing on twists and core-strengthening poses is integrated to enhance spinal health and develop a strong, stable core. Later on in the collection, there is a backbend class where students will look at actions required to access Urdhva Dhanurasana, a powerful backbend that requires a combination of strength, flexibility, and mental focus. To balance out the strenuous nature of this sequence, the next class will be a restorative session with lower back focus.

The series concludes with a session dedicated to core strength and alignment, particularly beneficial for beginners looking to establish a strong, supportive base for the rest of their yoga journey.
