One of the main challenges for both beginners and advanced students in restorative sessions is staying connected to oneself and one’s surroundings without growing restless while performing static restful poses. In restorative sessions, we usually hold these poses for longer durations, making it even more challenging to stay focused yet calm.
In this session, Level 1/2 students will explore some foundational restorative poses, and Pixie will share tips on achieving the right state of mind while performing them.
We will commence the session with shoulder-opening exercises in Tadasana, along with standing forward bends such as Uttanasana and Adho Mukha Svanasana to activate the legs and elongate the spine. Subsequently, we’ll incorporate Supta Padangusthasana 1 and 2 to further stretch the legs and open up the hips. Following this, we’ll transition to the main part of the session and explore restful poses like Savasana, Viparita Karani, Supported Setu Bandha Sarvangasana, Supta Swastikasana, and Adho Mukha Sukhasana.
Throughout the session, our focus will be on achieving a restful state in both the body and the mind while remaining aware and present.
