About the course
Back pain is a tiring and frustrating issue that many Iyengar yoga students live with. The back is comprised of large muscles. The major muscles in the lower back (erector spinae) are particularly prone to dull or sharp pain after long periods of sitting at a desk, from exercises like running and weight-lifting or long periods of standing in service jobs.
There are many interactions between muscles in the leg, the lower back and the upper back and neck region which can cause discomfort while going about daily activities or sleeping at night.
When treated properly, back pain can be managed and chronic pain later in life can be minimised or avoided. This course is designed to give you some resources to help manage back pain when it strikes as well as some on-going classes that you can approach more regularly.
