Lie down on your back. Bend your left leg at the knee so that your shinbone is perpendicular to the rest of your body and bring it as close to your head as possible. Repeat on both sides.
What is Supta Padangusthasana 4?
A supine leg extension with the knee bent and the shin brought close to the head. This pose is usually coupled with the other variations of Supta Padangusthasana and can be included early in a class to open and lengthen the leg muscles before performing more demanding stretching poses. It may also be placed towards the end of the class as a way to release tight muscles or lower back.
When to use Supta Padangusthasana 4?
This asana is beneficial for extending and lengthening the hamstrings and calf muscles whilst staying stable in the hips and torso. This particular variation has the additional benefit of massaging your abdominal organs and offering an extra stretch to your upper leg muscles.
